Maintenance Massage, Sports, Performance and Rehab Massage is now available. I have recently graduated from the Northwest School of Animal Massage. I hold certificates in Maintenance Massage Level 100 Program, Level 200 Performance Massage and Level 300 Rehabilitation Massage. I am also a Reiki Master. My massage practice will be limited to dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals only.
*** Please note, as a massage practitioner, I can not diagnose medical issues, manipulate bony structures, offer medical advise, prescribe drugs or perform surgery. Massage or holistic therapy is not a substitute for regular and proper veterinary care. ***
As a massage therapist I will be integrating with other modalities such as aromatherapy, reiki therapy and acupressure. My goal will be to help reach a natural healthy state by adapting to any physical injuries or limitations and to enhance performance. Massage techniques are used in a gentle relaxing environment to empower the animal with calmness, comfort, and confidence. A massage plan will be based on your pets medical history and a gait analysis done on the first consultation.

Comprehensive Gait Analysis
For Sports Performance, Police or Military Dogs, or
Search and Rescue, or Service Dogs
This is an extensive evaluation of dog's gait, jumping (takeoff and landing patterns) foot placements as well as conformation and how it will affect performance. The analysis performed by a veterinarian will include many photo shots and video clips of the dog in action in their choice of sport or service. Conformation evaluation will be included. Structure can play a key role in how well your dog can perform a sport or service career. Structure and gait analysis will include symmetry, balance, head and tail carriage, reach, drive, carriage, flexibility of top line, animation of movement, tracking, focus expression, and alertness. This is a great assessment tool to evaluate for potential problems early on that the dog may have for a particular sport or service career. Sound movement can contribute to a dog's stamina and ability to perform, as well as overall health and comfort. It is an aid to help prevent possible future injuries and determine a conditioning plan for optimum performance and endurance.

GERIATRIC MASSAGE AND HOSPICE CARE

The benefits of human reflexology is also a beneficial form of therapy to animals. Pet Reflexology is an ancient art and science that uses gentle manual pressure to points of the foot, ear and hands. The science of Reflexology is based on the theory that certain points of the foot, hand and ear mirror specific parts of the body. By applying specific pressure and technique, the practioner can stimulate these points to release blockage, improve circulation, release toxins, and congestion, stimulate the immune system, balance body chemistry and return energy flow to normal in the corresponding organ or body part. Pet Reflexology can also restore your sense of well being, ease pain, increase vitality, promote relaxation, reduce over hyperactivity and over stimulated areas, or enhance part of a training routine. This technique can be used on all animals with no toxic reactions or little or no secondary effects. Pet Reflexology is a complementary modality that is separate and different from massage. The feet of some dogs can be very sensitive or they may be shy about being touched. Once they become used to sensitive gentle, touch they usually will respond enthusiastically to treatment. Pet reflexology is painless . During treatment, most animals become very relaxed and can even fall asleep. In rare cases a few animals may experience some secondary effects of pins and needle sensation, cramps or numbness, or may become lethargic for 24 hours following treatment. These effects are physiological and are indicative of an improvement taking place to the animals well being. Duration and frequency of Pet Reflexology treatment vary animal to animal. Most sessions last 30 minutes or what the dog will allow. A simple treatment for maintenance or for acute conditions can be done in 1 to 3 sessions. Chronic or severe conditions may require multiple sessions over several weeks. Positive results should be seen after the first to third session with treatments spaced out according to improvements seen.
